Fortress Investment Group isn’t the result of a single founder, the formation of the firm was actually a collaborative partnership. Randal Nardone was there in the beginning stages as one of the co-founders. He began his early career aspirations with an undergraduate education at University of Connecticut (UConn). Then after receiving his Bachelor’s Degree, Ralph went on to earn a Juris Doctor (JD) degree; graduating from Boston University School of Law.

Randal Nardone is also professionally referred by the law degree, J.D. So it’s not unusual to see media articles mentioning him as “Randy, J.D.” Since 1998, the year of its inception, Randal has served as principal of Fortress Investment Group. During the year 2006, the company announced him as an addition to the Board of Directors. And in 2013, he was named as CEO. Additionally, Randal Nardone serves on the Board of four companies: Gagfah, Springleaf Holdings and Brookdale Senior Living, as the Director, and New Residential Investment Corporation as the Executive Manager.

Prior to becoming one of the co-founders of Fortress Investment Group, Randal Nardone had already established himself in the financial industry. When the opportunity to start a private investment firm came around, Randal knew he was ready. He was well known in the area of finance and brought that experience to Fortress. The amount of money that Randal Nardone earned as a founder, CEO and Chairman went even higher when Fortress launched its first IPO offering in 2007.

Beyond the financial considerations, Randal performs a variety of executive level management duties for Fortress Investment Group. These include: Principal and Director of the Fortress Credit Corporation and Director Eurocastle Investment Limited. This year marks two decades since the founding of Fortress Investment Group. In 2017, it was announced that Japanese SoftBank Group Corporation acquired Fortress for $3.3 billion. The firm’s daily operations continued within the Softbank business structure and remained headquartered in New York City. Randal Nardone serves the same roles within the company.
